Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Generator Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Interface with customers to coordinate testing and inspection of generators, including frames, stator cores, stator windings, rotor poles, field windings and excitation systems
  • Perform the testing and inspections scopes, including testing and assessment of generator components
  • Evaluate the test data
  • Provide the customer with the test data as well as any recommendations for repairs
  • Team leader for all repairs, replacements, installations and maintenance for all electrical and mechanical components associated with the generator stator and rotor windings
  • Coordinate with customer during all testing and inspections as well as repair work
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Represent the company on a professional level
  • Review RFQs, in order to assist Sidewinders management and sales personnel with the preparation of proposals
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness of the work area at customer sites
  • Perform all tasks in conjunction with all applicable health and safety procedures and policies
  • Have the applicable qualifications and training to work in potential hazardous environments including, asbestos, lead and chemicals
  • Able to pass a drug screening; Sidewinders is a DRUG FREE employer
  • Able to wear a respirator and pass a pulmonary function test
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Able to travel within the United States and internationally with little notice
  • Able to lift loads of up to 50 pounds
  • Have a valid drivers license
  • Passport preferred

Education:

  • Associates or higher in Electrical Engineering, preferred
  • Trade school or OEM trained
  • Formal training in correct and safe operation of generator test equipment

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in the power generation industry specifically working as a Generator Specialist
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Basic knowledge in mechanical disassembly and reassembly
  • Able to complete all tasks associated with the position with no supervision
  • Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Able to understand blueprints, schematic drawings and written procedures
  • Able to use precision measuring instruments
